Pachymetry measures the thickness of the cornea.
Readings of intraocular pressure depend on corneal thickness. Patients with thicker than normal corneas present artificially high readings of intraocular pressure while, on the other hand, those patients with thinner than average corneas present artificially low readings of intraocular pressure.
