Monovision 23/03/2013

Monovision is a technique where the dominant eye is corrected for distance vision and the non-dominant eye for near vision. This procedure maintains slight myopia in the eye for near vision which subsequently provides good joint vision of both eyes, both for distance and close-up, independent of glasses.
This can be achieved by calculating the power of the monofocal lenses to ensure good distance vision and correct close vision when using both eyes.
Monovision can also be carried out using the LASIK technique (lamellar surgery) or PRK (superficial surgery). This is advanced monovision.
