1. USER INFORMATION
Who is responsible for processing your personal data?
INSTITUT DE LA MÀCULA I DE LA RETINA, hereinafter the
CONTROLLER, informs the
USER that it has created profiles on the social networks Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Vimeo, and Google+, and is responsible for the processing of the user’s personal data carried out on these platforms. This data will be processed in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of April 27 (GDPR), and Organic Law 3/2018 of December 5 (LOPDGDD), and the following information about data processing is provided:
Why do we process your personal data?
Purpose of the processing: to maintain a relationship between the USER and the CONTROLLER, which may include the following actions:
- Handling requests and inquiries made to the controller
- Providing information about activities and events organized by the controller
- Providing information about products or services offered by the controller
- Interacting through official profiles
Why are we allowed to process your personal data?
Legal basis for the processing: Article 6.1.a of the GDPR, the data subject has given consent for the processing of their personal data for one or more specific purposes. The user has a profile on the same social network and has decided to join the CONTROLLER’s profile, thus showing interest in the information published. Therefore, by requesting to follow our official profiles, you give us consent to process the personal data published on your profile.
The USER can access the privacy policies of the respective social network at any time and configure their profile to ensure privacy.
The CONTROLLER has access to and processes the USER’s public information, especially their contact name. This data is only used within the social network and will only be added to a CONTROLLER database when necessary to handle a USER request.
How long will we keep your personal data?
Data retention criteria: Data will be retained as long as the USER does not revoke the consent given, as indicated in this privacy policy.
To whom do we disclose your personal data?
Data disclosure: The information provided by the USER through the CONTROLLER’s social networks, including personal data, may be publicly visible depending on the services the USER uses and may be accessible to other third-party users of the social networks. From each social network profile, the USER can configure what information to make public, view granted permissions, revoke them, or disable third-party applications.
No data will be disclosed to third parties outside the social network unless it is strictly necessary to fulfill the purposes of the processing. In such cases, data may be shared with our service providers under confidentiality and data processing agreements as required by privacy regulations.
What are your rights?
Rights of the user: These can only be exercised in relation to the information under the control of the CONTROLLER.
Right to withdraw consent at any time
Right to access, rectification, portability, and erasure of your data, as well as the right to restrict or object to processing.
Right to file a complaint with the supervisory authority (www.aepd.es) if you believe that the processing does not comply with current regulations.

2. USE OF THE PROFILE
The CONTROLLER will perform the following actions:
- Access public profile information
- Publish on the USER’s profile any content already shared on the CONTROLLER’s social network
- Send personal and individual messages through the social network’s channels
- Post page status updates that will appear on the USER’s profile
The USER can always manage their connections, remove content they no longer find interesting, and restrict who they share connections with by configuring their privacy settings.
3. PUBLICATIONS
Once the USER becomes a follower or joins the CONTROLLER’s social network, they may post comments, links, images, photos, or any other multimedia content permitted by the platform. The USER must, in all cases, own the content published or have the authorization or consent of the affected third parties.
Any publication on the social network—including text, graphics, photographs, videos, etc.—that may violate or potentially violate morality, ethics, good taste, or decorum, and/or infringe intellectual or industrial property rights, image rights, or the law is expressly prohibited.
In such cases, the CONTROLLER reserves the right to immediately remove the content without prior notice and may request the permanent blocking of the USER.
The CONTROLLER is not responsible for content freely published by a USER.
The USER should be aware that their posts may be viewed by other users, making them the primary party responsible for their privacy.
Images published on the social network will not be stored in any database by the CONTROLLER but will remain on the social network.
4. DATA OF MINORS OR INDIVIDUALS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
Minors under the age of 18 are prohibited from accessing and registering on the CONTROLLER’s social networks. If the USER has special needs, their legal guardian or representative must intervene through a valid document proving legal representation.
The CONTROLLER is expressly exempt from any liability that may arise from the use of social networks by minors or individuals with special needs. The CONTROLLER’s social networks do not knowingly collect any personal information from minors. Therefore, if the USER is a minor, they must not register, use the CONTROLLER’s social networks, or provide any personal information.
