The recently developed MicroPulse technology is a therapy based on a very low-intensity laser source, with short pulses lasting millionths of a second, repetitive, which results in a safe and effective method, with fewer side effects at the cellular level. Furthermore, MicroPulse, in some studies on its role in the treatment of diabetic macular edema, has shown to be as effective as conventional laser. In the same studies, improvement changes have been observed at the microperimetry level before being detected in optical coherence tomography.
At the Institut de la Màcula we have MicroPulse technology, an excellent application in some cases of diabetic macular edema and secondary edema from venous occlusions, and in some cases of central serous chorioretinopathy, among other diseases.
