The treatment for removing expression lines uses an injection technique that relaxes the muscles by blocking neuromuscular transmission. This prevents the muscles responsible for wrinkles between the eyebrows and other facial expression lines from contracting. By relaxing these muscles, wrinkles are softened or even eliminated, especially in the glabella, forehead, and crow’s feet areas.
The injections take between three and five days to achieve their full effect. The procedure is painless and requires no postoperative care. After one week, the results are evaluated and, if necessary, the treatment is adjusted. The effect is always temporary and lasts between three and six months, depending on the patient.
Possible complications from these treatments are also temporary and extremely rare.
